School of human Inquiry
The School of Human Inquiry advances the study of people, societies, cultures, communication, and media through interdisciplinary teaching, research, and public engagement. Bringing together scholars and students in history, sociology, political science, communication, geography, and related fields, the School examines how human experience is shaped across time and space by power, institutions, ideas, technologies, and social relationships.
We prepare undergraduate and graduate students to ask significant questions, evaluate evidence rigorously, engage multiple perspectives, communicate effectively across audiences and media, and apply scholarly inquiry to the challenges of public life. As part of a public research university, the School of Human Inquiry is committed to intellectual curiosity, methodological pluralism, civic responsibility, and the production of knowledge that serves both local communities and wider publics.
